Can I make a PPI claim?
If you have loan insurance then you could be entitled to make a PPI claim (Personal
Protection Insurance claim). Most people take out PPI when they get a loan, mortgage
or credit card, to cover the cost of repayments should they become ill and be unable
to work, or become unemployed. The Citizens Advice Bureau estimates that PPI can
add from 13% - 56% to the cost of a loan, so if you have it, you want to know that
it’s right for you.
Problems with PPI misselling come about if people are wrongly advised at the time
about the cost of the policy payments, charges or exclusions. You could also make
a claim for PPI misselling if you weren’t told about alternative loan insurance
products, especially if there are cheaper policies available.
